Big news! MAINE HARVEST BUCKS IS BACK TO A 100% MATCH, effective today, Monday, 9/21! Now when you spend SNAP/EBT at any Maine Harvest Bucks market or farm stand, you’ll receive the same amount in vouchers for more fresh veggies, fruits, or plants to grow food. We are thrilled to be able to do this right in the middle of harvest season, when farmers have so much bounty to share and the time is right for stocking up on storage crops.
How is this possible?
The State of Maine nutrition fund
The release of more state Nutrition Incentive Funding with the passage of LD 468 earlier this year
A whole lot of successful fundraising this spring and summer
Now we know that we have enough to match Maine Harvest Bucks all through this fall and winter.
Maine Harvest Bucks is the lynchpin of our statewide programs, is the reason SNAP/EBT is accepted at more than 70 markets and farms, and brings over $950,000 in direct, full-price retail sales to vendors each year. We are relieved to be able to do this now, not only for all the shoppers who can stretch their food budget a little further, but also for all of the hardworking farmers and producers who depend on these sales to keep growing. September is Preparedness Month
Emergencies don’t happen Monday through Friday, from 9:00-5:00, and neither does 211.
For over 20 years, 211 Maine has partnered with Maine Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) to provide trusted information and support before, during, and after emergencies.
211 plays several critical roles in our state:
• Serving as a focal point for the public during disasters: providing vital information, reducing confusion, and helping manage rumors.
• Acting as a statewide planning tool by identifying gaps and duplication in services.
• Connecting volunteers, agencies, and communities to where help is most needed.
Preparedness is a shared responsibility, and we all have a role to play.
Take a few minutes to:
• Make a plan.
• Put together an emergency kit.
• Learn how to get emergency alerts and information.
• Check on your neighbors.
Taking these steps can help everyone be better prepared when an emergency happens.

Many donors have reached out already to ask if the funds donated at the Bath Shaws check out will all go directly to the Bath Food Bank. There has been a substantial change to the 'Nurishing Neighbors' program. Albertsons (Parent company of Shaws) will be awarding us a grant this month. This grant will come in the form of gift cards that must be distributed by December 31st. So...the answer to 'will the funds you donate at Shaws go directly to the BAFB is difficult to answer. We assume a portion of your donation will go to pay for the grant. We want to thank everyone for reaching out and THANK YOU ALL for helping us help so many! This is going to be a very difficult winter for our families trying to heat their homes...being able to 'shop' at the food bank is going to be must and our family numbers will grow.
