As many of you are aware, the Maine Health lab that was located in Bath was closed down. MANY of our families can not get to Brunswick for much needed tests due to transportation. Maine Health is making these cuts and they are hurting our clients and residents. PLEASE..if you get a survey, take the time to fill it out..let them know taking the lab is NOT working! ... I believe this is just while they renovate the parkview building. Dr’s are moving there
If they are moving there, that's a positive because it's a lot bigger place and they can add more doctors! I know to inconvenience for patients however it would be more patient centered if they can accommodate and see more patients and help the community! Patients that are on mainecare there is a right program that they can sign up for
It will only be helpful if they also provide a shuttle from Bath to Brunswick for patients without transportation.
Bath and Brunswick needs to get together and provide transportation between the two areas. When will the egos put their brains together to get it done?
I was told by them it was a parking issue, not enough parking for people with early morning appointments and people going to the lab.
Like everything, there was a legit reason for this. As we all know parking is a big problem in Bath and it is my understanding that was the reason for the move. They are currently working on a solution for this.
NET transportation available to MaineCare recipients is a broken system is too many ways to explain. And that still leaves out the ones who aren't eligible for MaineCare who can't or don't drive. Going all the way to Parkview for bloodwork is an almost half day adventure. I have to leave work to pick up the family member who needs to go. Drive to Parkview which is NOT centrally located in Brunswick, get them inside, register them, wait at the lab, drive them home and then return to work. Taking them to the lab in Bath took HALF the time.
Sign on the door I just looked at on my way to my appointment says it is a TEMPORARY closing until they find a suitable new location.
If they really cared about patients they would have secured a new location BEFORE closing the current one. I will definitely fill out the survey.
Maybe they should look at the old cross insurance building out by Shaw's would be a great location with lots of parking.
Maine health has become a monopoly and it' all about money.
Just to make folks aware, you can also get labs at Midcoast Hospital. That's where my husband went. Closer to Bath than Parkview, whether you're able to drive yourself or providing transportation for someone else.
The answer to me would be purchase The Yummy Restaurant and land right beside Maine Health in Bath, which is a tremendous eyesore...and is still for sale! Build there...lab would be perfect there and could add more parking! I am often unable to get to Brunswick for needed lab work..There are also many elderly people who also do not have transportation to get to Brunswick Lab! This decision was not in the interest of the many patients of Maine Health. I will definitely fill our a survey. Thank you
Not sure to the schedule but I think the Brunswick Link has a run to Bath? We certainly need more public transportation options.
They also closed Maine health ophthalmology in Maine ( and moved all the doctors to Brunswick) - they also closed their optical in bath and Brunswick. Leaving many Mainecare kiddos without a a place to get glasses
Yet they makes millions $$$
It's a temporary closure for renovations
Is this the lab over by the train station? Or the hospital?
If any person needs labs drawn, just schedule a draw at Riverside Healing Center in Bath. I’ll draw their labs personally. All you need is to bring in your lab form and we’ll send it over to Quest.
Maine health needs to be broken up. It is a net negative to the state
It’s been hard to get to Brunswick for my labs which I have to have done semi often, disabled and don’t drive. It was so nice having it right in bath.
Bath to midcoast is no short hike either my friend. And if you are getting tests because of illness that's even harder.
I am so disappointed in Maine Health's decisions but I am a patient at Martin's Point and I have my bloodwork there. Knowing Midcoaast offers blood work works for some. If one has Maine Care, rides out of town are provided if one plans ahead.
Mehealth doesn’t care, it’s all about the $$$
They don’t care! Now that MIlls has allowed MaineHealth to become a Monopoly through their non profit scheme and political agreements with the Mills Administration… we are left with few if any choices. Rural Mainers will now travel to them, where it is convenient for MaineHealth. They have successfully absorbed all their competitors and control the Market Share. They will cut all non profitable areas, implement AI to cut staff, use migrants for work opportunity tax credits and then use the savings to buy the few remaining areas they have yet to absorb. It is moving toward a socialist single payer system that MaineHealth has been selected to Deliver here in Maine. We get what we vote for and this is the result. People need to start thinking critically but unfortunately downstream consequential thinking has not been taught for 35 years in our schools. If you are wealthy enough… you will buy into the “Concierge Care” model that is taking hold. This is targeted toward the Baby Boomers who hold the largest share of wealth in Human History. It is like a Disney Fast pass that scoots you to the front of the line. If not, you will get to wait in the DMV like system that is quickly taking over before your eyes.

WOWOWOW!~ A lovely couple (that did this last year and want to remain anonymous) donated ANOTHER 30 BACKPACKS this year to our food insecure families in the Bath area. They do not have children of their own and they truly enjoy doing this year after year. THANK YOU BOTH...for caring for our kids!
We ask that BAFB clients (parents) bring their kids if at all possible, to pick out the backpack they like. These particular backpacks are for kids K-5. We do have a couple other backpacks for HS and middle school kidos.
